When the mean and selfish hunter Shegir holds his bleeding foot into the river, he awakens a dragon that threatens to destroy his village. In a fight to stop the dragon, the village chief dies. Shegir sees his chance to take his place. Only one person suspects the sinister plans Shegir forges: his nephew Aktai, who has serious talks with him again and again. When the local medicine man is told that an even bigger snake will haunt the inhabitants and destroy their village, uncle and nephew set off to find the mighty giant eagle Musbalak. A long way lies ahead of them, up to the icy summits of the Kazakh mountains. Shegir wants to catch the eagle, tame it and make it submissive to his will. Aktai has a big heart and wants to make the magical creature his friend. On the day of the solar eclipse the village is on fire and only one of the two men can save the village with Muzbalak’s help.
