Synopsis:
Lassie returns. Born into 1940s Hollywood Lassie is the top name in dog movies. Based on Eric Knight's 1938 novel British director Charles Sturridge has recreated the classic family film.

It is the eve of World War II in a Yorkshire mining town. The Carraclough family fall on hard times and when miner Sam gets laid off, he and wife Sarah must sell Lassie to the Duke of Rudling, which breaks the heart of 9-year-old Joe. Transported to the Duke's remote castle in the north of Scotland, Lassie is determined to make her way home for Christmas.

Director’s statement
“I thought it was an unexpectedly muscular kind of adventure, which had some unusual opportunities in it for filmmaking. It seemed to me a chance to make a film which had a great sense of landscape and a great sense of place.”
