Life was wonderful 25 years ago in Chernobyl. On April 26, 1986, in nearby Pripiat, Anya and Piotr are celebrating their wedding. Little Valery and his father Alexei, an engineer at the Chernobyl nuclear plant, are planting apple trees. Nikolai, a forest ranger, is on his regular rounds through the woods... But there's an accident at the power station. Piotr is called in to put out a fire. He never returns. People are quickly evacuated. Alexei, ordered into silence by the authorities, would rather disappear. Ten years later, Pripiat is a city of ghosts, a no-man's land, a gigantic modern Pompeii presented as an odd tourist spot... Anya is now a tour guide here, Valery is still looking for traces of his father and Nikolai still maintains his contaminated garden... Time heals, but is hope of a new life here is still possible?
