The jury’s award for the best film for children at this year’s Cinekid Film, Television and New Media Festival for Children went to a film, that has been touring through many festivals all over the world: „Blanka“, a co-production between Italy, Japan and the Filippines, directed by Kohki Hasei (2015).

The children’s audience voted for „Little Grey Fergie – Country Fun“ by Peder Hamdahl Naess (Norway, 2016), the fourth film from a series about the adventures of tractor Fergie, another example from the successfull attempts that Nordic countries make to create films for small children of four years and up.

The award from the young people’s jury received director Florian Schnell for his feature film debut „Offline – Are You Ready for the Next Level?“ (Germany, 2016).

In the Dutch competition „Mr. Frog“ (Anne van der Heide, The Netherlands, 2016) received the award of the jury with a special mention for „Young Wrestlers“ (Mete Gu?mu?rhan, The Netherlands, 2016). „Dummy the Mummy and the Sphinx of Shakabah” by Pim van Houve (The Netherlands, 2015) was the audience’s favourite.

The Burny Bos Award for an upcoming scriptwriter received Ruud Visser for his script “Fiere Amal”.

The Lifetime Achievement Award the festival gave to Sannette Naeyé, who directed the Cinekid Festival for 20 very successfull years. Last week she announced to retire from Cinekid in a few months, therefore this was Sannette Naeyé’s last Cinekid edition.

More awards were given to short films, TV- and New Media productions as well as to projects in development within the professionals’ days.
