A project funded by Creative Europe

As Europe’s leading children’s film player, ECFA has been awarded a long-term project, funded by the Creative Europe program of the European Union. ‘Children’s Film First’ is an ECFA label in partnership with several of its members: Schlingel Film Festival (D), Il Nuovo Fantarca (I), Ciné-Jeune Film Festival (F), The Children’s Media Conference (UK), Bundesverband Jugend & Film (D) and Jekino (B).

Activities:

  • 3 peer-learning seminars (in Germany, Italy and France) for educators and teachers, organised by renowned film festivals. These seminars focused on creative practice in film literacy and promoted exportable models.
  • The CFF conference in Brussels in September 2015 where these 3 peer-learning seminars ECFA seminars will be presented as case-studies. In addition a key area of discussion at the conference will be the of use new digital platforms, apps, smart phones to conduct film literacy with young people.
  • An extension of ECFA’s website with a database of short films for children, a database of European film literacy professionals and a selection of online Film Study Guides.
  • An ongoing stimulation of the interest of press and public in European quality films for children.
