All international film festivals for children and young people, who are a member of ECFA, can apply for authorisation to present the ECFA Award within their program.
At the end of the year all ECFA awarded films will be nominated by election for the overall 'ECFA AWARD' for film of the year. The award will be given by all the ECFA members and will be presented during the International Filmfestival Berlin Berlinale.
The animated film "Ernest & Célestine" directed by Benjamin Renner, Vincent Patar & Stéphane Aubier (Belgium, France, Luxembourg 2012) is the winner of the ECFA-Award 2014.
The ECFA-Award 2014 was decided by all members of the association. The shortlist for the award was built upon the single ECFA-Awards that were given at ten children’s film festivals during the year before. About 250 guests were present at ECFA's party during the Berlin International Film Festival when last year's winner Boudewijn Koole (director of "Kauwboy") handed the award diploma to Rodolphe Buet, CEO Studiocanal, the world sales agent of the winning film. Now it’s a full circle. After a year-long path paved with awards KAUWBOY (Boudewijn Koole, The Netherlands) returned to where it all began, the Berlinale, to pick up its most prestigious prize. "Kauwboy" definitely deserved that ultimate crowning by ECFA. Out of the 70 % of all ECFA members casting their votes for a title on the shortlist, 70 % voted for "Kauwboy". Read more ...
